Magnificent fight. Usyk always had Fury's number.
Fury has power in those arms but was always on the back foot. He landed a close uppercut or two and shook Usyk. Credit to the Ukrainian though, he showed true grit and his chin ate everything Fury threw at it.
Usyk stalked him throughout the fight and landed the greater punch count and as a result was a deserved winner.
There are a couple of things I took from the fight.
Fury has not faced many top class opponents. He has always been focused on fighting the same opponent over and over (Deontay Wilder and Derek Chisora spring to mind).
Whilst Wilder was justified to an extent, why on earth would you want a trilogy with a guy you've already beaten twice in Derek Chisora?
When he fought a tougher opponent in Otto Wallin, he fell short. After suffering a major cut, the fight wasn't stopped. Otto ran him the full 12 rounds as well.
His fight against Francis Ngannou exposed him as being unfit and lethargic. He should have done what Anthony Joshua did... Both with Wallin and Ngannou.
He refused to give Klitschko a rematch. He won on points but it had to be the most boring heavyweight title fight of this era.
Fury could be a better fighter, but it's clear that he has cherry picked his opponents rather than face up to serious contenders in the division.
Do you think Fury will beat Usyk in the rematch?
Will Fury retire before it happens?
Has Fury's lack of decent opposition left him ill-prepared?
